Pamela Prati as a succubus in Transformations

Space smuggler Wolfgang Shadduck (Rex Smith) wakes up one evening to the blaring intruder alert alarm of his ship, when he opens the door of his quarters there stands the gorgeous Italian model Pamela Prati.  Thinking this was the "birthday gift" his friends had told him they hid on his ship he proceeds to let Prati "rock his world".  But it quickly appears (unbeknownst to him, because he has his eyes closed the entire time...) that Prati isn't human.  Meanwhile his ship is experiencing massive system failures, it's not until he opens his eyes that he realizes nobody is there, could it have all been a dream?

Unable to repair the ship in time Wolf has to make an emergency crash landing on the nearest planet, which happens to be a prison mining colony.  It's there he awakens to the face Miranda, the beautiful physician played by Lisa Langlois.  Unable to remember what happened, he's told that his ship is being repaired and he'll be free to go soon.  But Wolf quickly realizes something is wrong with him, he begins having flashbacks of his encounter with Prati, the uncontrollable urge to mate bringing with it violent urges and clusters of puss filled boils breaking out all over his body.

Eventually Wolf uncovers what's going on with the help of Father Christopher (the planet's priest), who has witnessed these symptoms before.  Father Christopher tells Wolf he was visited in his dreams by a succubus who used his carnal desires to implant pure evil in him, and that the only way to prevent it from totally consuming it would be to fight it with the pure love that Miranda had so quickly developed towards him...

Father Christopher (Patrick Macnee) in Transformations

I had high hopes for Transformations, from some screen caps I'd seen it looked like it was going to be a fun and campy science fiction film, but once Wolf made it to the planet I realized I was probably going to be highly disappointed.  The film plays out like a horrible soap opera both in plot and especially in the acting, with the exception of Father Christopher (played by Patrick Macnee).  Everyone is very bland and stiff in their delivery, yes the story is complete crap, but major credit has to be given to someone like Macnee who was actually able to "transform" the crap he was given and bring his character some life.  The film would have been much more enjoyable had all the actors had put the same effort forth.

Succubus monster in Transformations

Second the plot of the film is a little flimsy on it's own.  The most interesting parts are at the very beginning with Pamela Prati, and the end when Wolf finally fully transforms, everything in between is pretty boring and uneventful.  The writers do attempt to supplement the main story by inserting the sub plot of three of the prisoners planning to hijack Wolf's ship and escape, but it doesn't help.

Pamela Prati in Transformations

What would have been an improvement is if they had devoted more time to the monster (the succubus), or better yet scrapped the whole Wolf character and made Prati the star and center the film around her becoming a succubus, as one can assume she was once human as well.  A film based around her transformation would have at least been worth it for the consistent eye candy alone.  Overall, not much separates Transformations from the dozens of other low budget alien transformation films except this one seems to have a little higher production value, and the lovely Pamela Prati albeit completely under utilized.  In the end this leaves Transformations as a really bad soap opera masquerading as a cheesy science fiction horror film whose only silver lining is it's sandwiched between Italian model Pamela Prati's breasts and a minuscule amount of action at the end.

3/10
